Sculptor crafting life-size women out of wood.
Nicolas de la Barre started his creative journey in 2019 in Lisbon at the Fundação Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva.
All of Nicolas de la Barre’s artistic work is deeply rooted in connection and in relationship with others. He creates out of necessity. Through his sculptures, he touches on themes of the transgenerational and the visible & invisible presence of loved ones.
By shaping a model at a given moment in time, the sculpture becomes a time capsule. The work captures the emotion of that instant, so that it can be cherished again each time one lovingly traces the sculpture with one’s gaze.
